What a rigid board jewellery set box is — and what it has to do
A set box presents a matching ring, necklace and earrings together in one opening, with a compartment shaped for each. It suits bridal, gifting and signature collections where the pieces are sold as one story.
A rigid set box is usually a flat compartment format — a printed shell with a shaped, lined pad — because a double-door structure needs a wood or moulded shell for its hinges.
How a rigid board jewellery set box is built inside
The classic set box is a double-door format: two doors open left and right on side hinges, revealing a single vertical display board. The board is worked from the top down — a hook or clip for the necklace, pierced holes for the earrings in the middle, and a ring slot at the base — so the whole set reads as one composed picture. A simpler flat set box uses a base pad with a shaped compartment for each piece.
Fit. Each position uses the same rule as its single box — 2–4 mm ring slot, 0.8 mm pierced earring holes, a hook sized to the bail — set out on one board so the pieces do not overlap when the doors close.
In rigid board. In a rigid box the insert is glued to the greyboard base and the wrap paper is turned over the top edge, so the insert height is set to finish a few millimetres below the rim and the lid pad closes the gap. Because the board is wrapped, corner build-up is controlled by the paper weight — a heavier art paper needs a mitred corner to sit flat.

Why rigid board for jewellery set boxes

What we check on every rigid board jewellery set box
Before a sample is sent, and again on every bulk run, each rigid board jewellery set box is checked against the same points — the insert is a lined foam insert glued to the board base, so the fit checks below are read against that construction:
- doors open evenly and the board sits vertical
- necklace hangs clear of the earrings; earrings clear the ring
- no piece touches the doors when closed
- board is fixed rigidly — it must not flex when the set is fitted
- the wrap paper has no bubbles, tears or paper build-up at the corners
- lid and base outlines match exactly when closed — same footprint, same corner radius
- insert fills the cavity with no gap to the wall; walls are an even thickness
- rigid board panels have continuous grain or nap with straight, even seams
